So....

I wrote an entry about my weekend, how I volunteered at the Hip Hop Caucus for Respect My Vote and how I went to a house party littered with former schoolmates (ones I actually liked!), but it reads very boring because it was tons of "had to be there" stuff. And you weren't. I took tons of photos but I haven't been on a computer in a second, so, they'll be here when I do. Until then, some highlights:

*a Block ENT street team guy called me busty when I asked him for a tee shirt.
*i don't work for them, but Twelve hotel is the bomb! Now if only phones got reception on the guest floors....
*i was branded one of the worst pseudo-lesbians ever, because my friend Alicia and I had a hugging competition. We were living on the edge!
* "if you're trying to find logic you're not drunk enough!" -Work Sam
*work Sam's girlfriend made me a tequilatequila sunrise. Twice as much tequila as sunrise.
* "aint nothing bout them 'baby'!" -an old man at the liquor store to me and my coworker
* "ahh! I can hear you peeing!" -me, to Breezy who couldn't make it back inside so he relieved himself near his car
*my coworker was getting hit on by work Sam's girlfriend's ex, who I think is one of those guys who date black girls for street cred.

Miss ego 2008

*This is what my friend called me. He has tons of drunk pix on the Face where his eyes are half open and he looks crazy. So I told him to come to our side of town and take sober pix. He told me to come take some drunk pix. I told him I had plenty and I looked hot in them. At which point he said that had nothing to do with nothing and that I had an ego. At which point I e-pageant waved, and declared my platform "world peace."

*One thing I'm not though? Breezy's secretary. This is an actual convo I had with a girl that works at the front desk.
Her: where's breezy?
Me: I don't know.
Her: when will he be back?
Me: I don't know.
Her: which direction did he go in?
Me: not sure.
Her: how long has he been gone?
Me: like a minute. Literally.
Her: and you have no idea when he's coming back?
Me: are you going to keep asking questions until he returns?
Her: maybe.
Me: hmm.
Her: ok I'll be back.
Me: I'm sure you will.

This was already her 3rd time coming in there that day, even following him into the office. And she did return before him and asked me 20000 questions again. He called her a stalker. Ya think? The problem is, if people see me, they immediately ask for him. Maybe because we're so close? But it gets old. I really don't keep track of him. And he's usually in the bathroom or sneaking cpu time at kinkos, so I don't wanna front him out either. So even if I do know, I'm probably not telling.

*He's a lil heartbroken right now anyways. I made him a mega mixed CD of about 100 songs (his car stereo plays MP3 files) including NERD, incubus, deftones, gnarls barkley, and the lovely MIA. He has been listening to the CD for a few months now, and decided last weekend to YouTube her videos. "I never knew how pretty she was! How old is she? She's hot." and etc. So Monday, he comes in and declares, "I'm going to marry MIA." so I have to break the news to him: she's pregnant. Lol he was like a 5 year old who just found out Santa isn't real. Totally ruined his day. To the point that when I get a text and "bird flu's" intro plays, he gets upset.

*beyonce knows some one at my high school's drill team. Have you seen "single ladies"? Which is "get me bodied pt 2" in almost every way except lyrically, although both are about going to the club. Anyways this is not to say that I don't like the song or the video, but during the 2nd chorus, she is all Dazzlin Dawgs, all day. La said she did those moves verbatim. I do agree with Shani about the song's message. Its not about me going to Kesi telling him he needs to ring me up, but moreso to that guy who I dated in 10th grade who wanted to keep our relationship "between us," constantly accused me of cheating, and now when I see him, which is every few months, he gives me that, "how's your man?" bull which really means "are you still with him?" boy stop. I also love Ciara's new song/video, though she quotes Soldja Girl at the end (if you're not sure who that is, you're not from atlanta, and you must YouTube it. I know someone who knows the whole rap).

I think that's all the random I have for today. I should have some new pix up on the crochet site soon, as soon as the recipient gets her package. Of course they have to be the first to see what they paid for.

chalenge!

So la tagged me as an honest blogger. How sweet, right? Wrong! She did it because she thinks I'll flake and write boring things. How dare she!!! My best friend thinks I'm boring! Boo bitch. So here's some honest things about me, some she probably doesn't even know. But first, rules.

1. When you receive the prize you must write a post showing it, together with the name of who has given it to you, and link them back
2. Choose a minimum of 7 blogs (or even more) that you find brilliant in their content or design.
3. Show their names and links and leave them a comment informing they were prized with ‘honest weblog’
4. Show a picture of those who awarded you and those you give the prize (optional).
5. And then we pass it on!

1. I was thought to be blind or nearly blind at birth because I didn't respond to the doctor's stimulation. I was just ignoring him. I was literally almost blinded when a car hit the car I was in, on the door I was leaning against. Glass cut up the left side of my face around my eye. I still have scars.

2 I was kidnapped by a former close family friend. At least that's what I refer to it as. I was in school everyday but never able to go home. On my mom's end, it seemed like she was being done a favor, but the person was unstable and tried to make me replace the child she lost.

3 I once fooled around on a greyhound bus. It was still the worst form of transportation I ever took.

4 In 5 the grade I promised a boy that we'd go on a date in 7th grade, knowing that I would be in Atlanta by then. When I came back to visit the summer before 8th grade I found out he told people in our class. I denied it. I still feel bad.

5 someone close to me got pregnant with her son because she was jealous that another woman had a boy with her son's father. I love her son so much and sometimes contemplate telling him, but I worry that knowing the truth may break him, rather than fix him.

6 I kissed my uncle's fiance's son when I was 10. I just want to make it perfectly clear that I am not bama. We were not related!

7 I only resent my mother for reading my diary. Multiple times. Anything else she's ever done I can forgive. That, I have trouble with. Most likely because she's unapologetic about it.

8 my dream is to win wheel of fortune.

9 one of my exes killed someone. I only ever told Kesi, but he told a group of our friends.

10. I sometimes wish there was a concrete explanation for my weirdness, so that it could be explained away. Adversely, I hate when people dismissively state that I *would* like, do, or believe something because I am a little off-beat. Not in a "this is interesting, Joy would like it," kind of way, more like, "I don't get it, it gives me the same confusion as she does so she must enjoy it."

so here's who i tag.....

diva
diamondsrforeva
jameil
rashan
adei

yeah some have been tagged already, but shoot, that aint in the rules.

knock yourselves out kids!!!

Blindness

Kesi and I went on a date this weekend! Yay! You may be thinking, "and?" but our quality time consists of hanging at my house or his house, and the last movie we saw was the Dark Knight. His supervisor gave us free passes to a regal theater, and so we were on our way!

Saturday afternoon we got dressed and headed to Atlantic Station! I had heard but not seen that they do a sort of craft fair on the weekends. This thing was big! I need to find info on it. Their lil "park" which is usually mini looking, was full of lil booths of people's paintings and jewelry and lotions... I'm broke, but they get a hand clap from the kid. Only one person had a proper sign, so I imagine they're on the same plane as I.
Anyways, Kesi went into the theater to get seats and I decided to get snacky. I waited in that line for like 10 minutes. Then, we had a $10 gift certificate, and guess how much I got with that? A medium (like 32oz...) soda and small popcorn. And I still had to pitch in 75 cents! Foolery.

The movie was great. Its about this city and eventually the nation, who gets a contagious "white blindness." meaning all they can see is white. For some reason julianne Moore can still see, and she lives in the containment area with her husband. I mean, it was exactly what I think itd be like, too. I'm not giving anything away when I say they were a mess. A sloppy mess. But the people's actions, their emotions and survival instincts, everything. So realistic. I recommend yall go see it. But be forewarned, there is A LOT of nudity in this movie. Its not gratuitous or overtly sexual. Its just, if no one could see you, how much time would you spend naked? Also, the direction is such that sometimes you feel blind too. Its an awesome movie.

After the movie we headed back because we were not spending any money there on food. It was still kinda light out and we had plenty of time to hang. A drunk man got kicked off the shuttle, which was hilarious. He kept arguing that he didn't have any liquids in his cup, just ice which was "cool, just like my daddy." what? Lmao! Then instead of sitting quickly he went to the back and tried to stand. She told him he couldn't stand and had to get off cuz there were no seats. "in other words, you don't want me?" "that's right sir!" and as he left he bumped hard into a girl, cursed and flipped the driver a bird. Pure mess. After that we saw a high school friend at the train station. Haven't seen her in ages! Last time I saw her was actually at our friend's funeral a year and a half ago. Since then she'd gotten divorced and is dating a woman. Seriously, I'm the only straight chick in Atlanta, lol. So we caught up and I found out that her sister, who used to date kesi's "lil sister," is pregnant. Precious. We also talked about her lil kiddies and just life in general. Hopefully I'll be able to keep up with her now. She was MIA for a bit, which I blame on her ex husband.

Once we got to the house Kesi promptly fell asleep and I spent the night crocheting, until I shook him at about 1 to ask if he was staying. He's so cute when he's asleep.

In conclusion, go watch the movie.

Down Peachtree

Yesterday at work, my friend Work Sam (not to be confused with Ruby Sam, who works with Kesi) said, "I need an AST training book, so if McCain wins, I can go be a supervisor in Canada." I laughed of course, but my manager, who we'll call Monk, because she has OCD, said, "he better win!" and you know what, I really like Monk. I think I have my first republican friend. I had assumed that she was a democrat, because her boyfriend is Cuban, and because she's a few months younger than me. I didn't know there were young repubs in Atlanta. I learned something! Lol. We'll convert her. She'll see. I'll just not talk politics around her because I don't want to lose my job calling her a racist fool or something. *i don't think she's racist or a fool, FYI. But I'm very passionate, ok?*

So last night kesi's egging me on to freestyle, as he is won't to do, to "down rodeo" by Rage Against the Machine. Even back in the 90s, I was all for the political rock. Zach dela Rocha is my homie. System of a Down, the dude from Pearl jam, I could go on, but I won't. Just know when I hear "rally round the family with a pocket fulla shells," I get emotional, lol. Making faces and all. I, today, noticed the anachronism of the chorus of that song as it relates to my life. I cannot "roll down Rodeo with a shot gun," for I do not drive, hate guns, and have never been to California. But I feel it so powerfully because its about revolution. Uprising. Change damn it! (And I frequently walk down Peachtree with a pocket knife, but for slightly different reasons).

I send forth a prayer that Obama wins. I haven't yet watched the VP debates because I was at work, but I hear from facebook statuses that Sarah blew, and when I came in the house my mom was watching and Palin had that dumb smile on her face that made me feel her brain was on "duh." so this woman who essentially needs a cheat sheet could be "a heartbeat away (If I hear that phrase one more time)" and she's dumber than Bush! Whatever "independent" thinking she claims to have done was just a product of her small town small thoughts. Now you're in the big city and all you can do is grin at me. Womp. And I love how people wanna paint McCain as a war hero because he was in a Hanoi jail for 5 years. But they don't mention that it was his fault. If he had not been at the bottom of his class and paid attn in maneuvers, he wouldn't have crashed for the 3rd or 4th time. Bet he was kicking himself after that one....

And so I wonder what Monk is seeing. Is she voting for her parents' party? Is she scared of the inteligent black man (that can't be it, she works with plenty of us)? I don't know. But I hope this nation doesn't go to hell in an Alaskan inuit-weaved basket.

*ps, breezys grandad told us when he was at the bus stop he overheard a convo between a young black chick and a white man. He asked her if she was voting for Barack, and she said "hell naw! I'm voting for Obama!" poor chile.

13 things I love about kesi

Adei has me thinkin about how good it is to have a good man. Reading her list about hers, I'm agreeing and net high-fiving her, lol. So I that fashion, I present to you the 13 unique things I love about Kesi. They're unique because there's plenty of guys who are sweet and generous and sexy and blah blah. But only he can be described using these 13 tenets.

1 he frowns in his sleep. Its rather funny and totally cute. Its like a lil puppy.

2 he says, "it'd be funny if..." and then says something that sends us on a tangent of laughter for a few minutes.

3 he watches All My Children with me and keeps up with the characters.

4 he reaches for me while we're asleep. It wakes me up but I like it.

5 he tries to get me to freestyle rap. Yeah, no.

6 he worries about me going ANYWHERE with ANYONE after it gets dark out. Even around the corner to run an errand with someone I've known half my life.

7 he runs around like a mad man when I'm sick. When my teeth were pulled he bought every soft food in Kroger.

8 he talks freely and fearlessly about our future marriage/ kids.

9 my first attempt at crocheting an 8bit videgame character is the wallpaper on his phone.

10 he's got a crazy name. The last name is french, but spelled wrong; I think "Kesi" is swahili, but it means "born of a troubled father" which is totally funny, and his first name is Irish. Together, it sounds totally made up and I'm pretty sure he's been eyeballed as a terrorist. But you can't walk around with that name and not be totally unique and strange and cool.

11 I think he'd be totally down with the symphony version of Metallica's "nothing else matters" as our first song.

12 his hair curls in lil locks until he combs it. Which I suppose isn't so remarkable, but I love his hair and he's growing it out again. :)

13 we have text conversations like this:

Me: They're gonna roast bats!

Kesi: who? And where?

Me: Andrew zimmern. Travel channel. He's in samoa. I love this show!

Kesi: hahaha that nigga better *redacted for the childrens, let's just say he said something dirty* He has no excuse.

Me: Lol I just laughed so hard. Right though? I'd be so insulted. "nigga you ate slugs before!"

Kesi: haha totally.

Me: samoa looks pretty. We should go some day.

Kesi: gotta get rich first.

Me: true....He just ate a fish eye. Yeah he's a freak.

Kesi: gotta be.

Me: gonna buy you a fish eye.

Kesi: hell no!

Me: damn.

Kesi: why?

Me: I wanted to see if you'd eat anything. Lol.

Kesi: No i don't eat pork so that "anything" stuff is already out.

Me: womp. You're such a picky eater. Have an apple tomorrow. Do you have apples at work?

Kesi: no. Well apple pieces.

Me: Apple pieces? Eat 4 tomorrow

Kesi: why?

Me: Cuz you need to eat fruit and I'm the one to get you to do it.

Kesi: I'll see if I can sneak some.

Me: *cracks whip*

Kesi: *runs*

Me: you better run toward a fruit stand!

Kesi: *runs back* wait, where's a fruit stand?

Me: shit, I don't know!

13 famous people I've met.

So me and my supervisor were talking about how year mom from Moesha was acting snooty with him (honestly I think that'd be her personality regardless, lol), and it led me to this week's Thursday 13. I've kind of categorized them for you...

1 Anne Rice

I met her at a book signing. I'm a big fan of the Vampire Chronicles, and even included her stories in to a report about book adaptations. Anywhoo, I don't remember what we talked about, but I'm glad I met her when I did. Apparently she became a born again Christian and stopped writing about Lestat. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

2 Terry McMillan

I wrote about meeting her a few weeks ago. It was awesome. She was just so breezy. So comfortable. Loves it.

3 Maya Angelou

She was sitting in a wheelchair in the lobby when I walked over to her, my entire bank in my hand (hundreds of dollars). I would have gladly lost my job to meet her. She was so sweet and peaceful. And she looks like she could have been thinking up a poem.

4 ludacris

I was 17, it was Christmas. My friend Melanie, an intern at DTP, called me and asked if I wanted to hold some signs up in exchange for meeting Luda. Yes maam! I had listened to him every day after school when he was 97.5's Chris Lova Lova and loved him since. I missed my chance at the skating rink so she got us in at the Bounce, this GHETTO ass club from back in the day. Anyways, it was 2am when I met him. He called me beautiful. Nothing could get me down after that. Even finding out my boyfriend was cheating on me.

5 Isaac Hayes

I don't remember why he was in the hotel. All I remember is he got a roast beef sandwich. And he was real mellow. Cool as you would think. This was before he left south park, I think a few months before. He was awesome.

6 Chris Daughtry

Last summer he came into the store and stood at the magazine rack. Not many people recognized him. He didn't seem to mind. He was really lovely. And cute for a bald guy. His band came down later and kept me company (and I, them, I'm sure) later that day. I decided to buy their album because I liked them as people. The album wasn't my that great. He should have just joined Fuel when they offered instead d remaking their music. But whateva.

7 Ronnie devoe

Scream! I loves me some new edition. Ronnie came into the hotel and I fawned and told him that he was my first concert when I was 5. I even got a picture! Then I fell out. No lie. After he left, I hit the floor.

8 the chick from blaque who didn't leave, but not the one who raps.

After I picked myself up from the floor I went back to work. I was serving this chick who looked familiar. I asked if she went to Howard. No... My high school? Nope. I couldn't figure it out. "I was in Blaque." oh yeah! Boom like an 808, yada yada. Oh yeah, she's married to Ronnie and has this SERIOUS ring. I mean, you could kill someone with an errant wave hello with that thing. Later we heard stories about how she flashed the bartender and claimed to have a 3rd nipple.

9 Elizabeth Rohm

I knew her from Angel, before I started watching Law and Order. I walked into the service elevators and there she was! I squeaked. She called me adorable and took a picture with me.

10 Mercedes Mcnabb

If you hadn't known, I'm a big buffy/angel fan (shout out to Rashan!) so when Harmony walked into my job I freaked out. She said I was more enthusiastic than most of the people who paid to see her. She asked if I was working the next day and promised to come back and take a picture with me. And she did! Its stuff like that that makes a person cool to me.

11 Kevin sorbo

Mo hit on him so hard last year. I mean, she still has his picture on her mantel. And she did that "hurcules, hurcules" clapping thing from Nutty Professor. Lordie. My friends, I tell ya.

12 lavar Burton

My friend said I had to say "but don't take my word for it!" when I saw him. I didn't. But I did tell him that he was my reading hero as a kid and that my mom is a TNG trekkie to the core. He really did a lot for kids back in the day. And roots? Don't get me started.

13 Judge Mathis

He bought baby oil, condoms and mints. Hot night for the judge! Lol he was there speaking to a boys group. See, when I tell you I'd take yall on judge Mathis when you owe me money, its not just a threat. Me and him go way back.

Let's talk about something else...

Besides crochet, before I get hate(r) mail like Rashan, lol.

*so Saturday I went off to walmart to buy yarn (technically that's not talking about crochet, lol), and when I come to the counter with about 6 skeins of what could only be described as froot loop colors, the girl says to me, "you're not gonna use these to braid your hair, are you?" my eyes got so big. I thought she was crazy! "noooo." "ya people have been doing that lately. Its cheaper than regular braids." oh. My. God. What? I have no desire to walk around looking like a cabbage patch kid, thanks. What the hell is wrong with people?

*you ever notice that Andre 3000 says the most dirty stuff in his songs, but he's so clever about it? He's quite frequently rapping/singing about oral sex. Meanwhile there's other rappers who say stuff like "my d*** on swole and I know your p***** wet, your mouth saying no but your body sayin yes." first of all, date rape anyone? Secondly, ew! Mystery, people! Let me laugh at the fact that you got your double entendre past the censors, instead of running into your uncensored version and turning into my mom.

*is anyone else watching True Blood? Its on HBO Sunday nights. Its about this small Louisiana town and how they deal with the fact that vampires are now a more common part of society. There's a metaphorical comparison to racism and homophobia and other types of discrimination. All the characters are so good. I love Tara, who said her mother was either a hateful bitch or an idiot for naming her after a plantation, lol. Its only 3 episodes in, so watch it if you like that sort of thing. Oh and its written by Alan ball, who did 6 feet under.

*my mom asked me if I'd let Kesi go to the strip club if we were married. I told her I didn't know. The truth is, I didn't know how to tell her I don't really care because he's cheap and since he watches lots of porn, I'm sure he'd be uninterested in what he could see for free at home, lol. But that's tmi for mom.

* Kesi's manager's uncle "found the thing what done made Viagra." That is to say he discovered the thing that causes the chemical reaction that makes men aroused. But she sounded so country when she said that to us last night, it was kinda hard to believe.

*i got drunk(ish) on rum runners and kamikazes Wednesday night at a show I went to. It wasn't so bad. I mean, I almost fell out of breezy's car, but you know, that could happen anytime. I was praying my mom was asleep, but alas it was only 130am, and she was sitting right in the living room. But I don't think she noticed, lol. Oh yeah, I saw this guy who I had a crush on in middle school. He made quite a clever joke comparing my Coach pig keychain and Sarah Palin. And La, he said he is muscle skinny, lmao.

*my ES, who now has nothing to do with me, thank God, actually got mad because the chick who took my place (who btw is pregnant) needed a few days off because her husband's fam died. She actually said, "its not like he lived here..." wow, bitch! Why are you so insensitive? So the CM was like, "thank you lord that I am not that insensitive," and EM actually got mad! This from the woman that made one associate bring an obituary back, and told another that she was being silly when she started crying because her sister was in the hospital. There is seriously not an ounce of compassion in her.

Look what I can do!

This is for my cousin nicky's first girl (she has 4 boys). My mom's making the blanket and she asked me to make miss Kitty. I'm glad it came out so good. I'm not finished, that's why its here and not at my proper site, but I just finished the face and I'm so geeked!

I Googled some crochet stuff last night and came up with some great ideas. I didn't see anyone come at the angle I'm coming from, but I was inspired. I'll tell you now, I saw a tetris blanket and I wanna do one.

Ps, my mom decided to take the blanket to work with her and didn't bring it home! That's why the background is my lovely comforter and not the art she created (so you can see where I get it from).

13 things I'm looking forward to

Before the end of the year.

1 metallica and deftones and kanye cds!

Before I was allowed to go to concerts metallica played the family values tour. But their lead singer James injured himself and couldn't play the Atlanta stop and so kid rock and the lead singers from korn and limp bizkit sang in his place. Do you know how much I would have loved to be there? Ugh! Anyways, I really like funky, hard, heavy rock music with really powerful lead singers and sick drummers. And these bands both have them. And they're putting out albums before the end of the year. Actually metallica is #1 this week. And so I need to make arrangements to hit the target. And kanye. Love Lockdown. Awesome song. And there's rumors his next CD will be out before Christmas! Yay!

2 Kesi's birthday.

We're 3 months apart, so I can see how he handles being 25 before I go through it, lol. And I've already got the celebration planned out. I'm that excited.

3 RAW

We're going to see WWE RAW for Kesi's birthday (a few weeks after his birthday actually) and I can't wait! Its gonna be so fun! Remember I'm going to dress like John Cena.

4 50% off associate discount

Usually during the slow period my hotel chain will let associates stay in rooms for free for a certain number of nights, to encourage travel. This year they're doing 50% off, which is actually better, because I don't really leave town much. So now I can stay in a hotel for cheaper! Huzzah!

5 breezy's Halloween party.

Tentatively its at this 4H cabin halfway between his house and mine. Its the perfect kind of creepy (I've been to a party there before and I remember saying that Jason was gonna jump out of the woods and kill us) and its gonna be so fun! And I get to be what I wanted to be last year.... Lol.

6 the election!

Its less than 2 months away and I'm looking forward to how this will play out. I have what they call "hope." its apparently contagious. And I'm praying and acting. I really want Barack to win!

7 friendaversary

October 22 is the friendaversary. Celebrating 72 years of friendship. I don't know what tops a tattoo as a gift, but we'll work on it.

8 new years

For obvious reasons. i don't know what I'm doing that night but I'll be out of work crazy early and partying it up!

9 the Christmas party

I love the work Christmas parties. I decided I'm going to wear red and black again. And hopefully a CERTAIN young man will come with me so I won't get hit on by that guy from events. Ew.

10 killer mike and crew at CW

Next Thursday! Mike, niko villamor, priceless and oh... Someone else, I cant remember them all. I'm so ready. The show is only $15. Yesss!

11 Kesi's cousin's wedding.

Its in saint Louis. I loves the weddings. And I love his family too. And besides the fact that its a strange mix of city and country, I love saint Louis too.

12 indecision 08 coverage

I love the daily show and colbert and no matter what happens that night I know I'll be laughing at them.

13 my brother's birthday.

He'll be 20! No longer a teen! Maybe more responsible! Pointing out your sister's oldness because she remembered the day you were born! Lol.

New new

In case you hadn't peeped it, I put up 2 new pix on Anna Lula. I can't link them, but the site is listed in my links down on the left. One of them was shipped to X factor last week and I'm so glad she loves it. We had an adventure with special order wool yarn and color choosing, lol. It was a bonding experience.

The other was for my coworker's brand new grand daughter, and he rolled around the corner right in time with that lil announcement photo. "you know I make baby blankets right?" We were on the phone with his daughter in minutes talking colors.

I got another I'm finishing for my friend Reka. Look for it at the Howard Homecoming - I'll be there in spirit. The pix will be up as soon as she gets it.

In other news, I finally got some privacy. A Lil shade to cover the doorway to my bedroom. Its not a door but it'll keep people from peeking in to see what I'm doing as they do their laundry. Dammit. Kesi and I had quite the time trying to put it up last night seeing how I don't actually have a door frame per se. He had on shades to keep the dust from my ceiling tiles from falling in his eyes and I had to stand on my extra cushy ottoman so I could reach the ceiling and hold up the blinds. I'm so short. Anyways after realizing we needed a drill, then finding a drill and realizing we didn't have an extension cord or a bore bit, then hammering nails into the spots and pulling the nails out and driving the proper screws in instead of drilling, we got the damn thing up. And now I have to sweep. That's what a $5 walmart shade gets you.

Tomorrow I'm going to a show at Lenny's at 5 points. I'll be sure to take tons of pictures!

A little sad

That's what I am.

So... After I posted that story about almost getting whooped over a secret, I went on facebook to see if I could find some of the people I mentioned in it. Guess what? I found EVERY ONE! Except Adela, but I'm working on it. I even found the girl who almost beat me up, but I didn't try to add her. We have no other connections, lol.

So anyways, over the past few days I've been emailing them, checking out pictures, seeing who's still friends with who and ended up where. They all still remember me, which is cool, and they all look the same, which apparently is also true of me.

I'm sad because in my mind, people are where they were when I left the. Everyone I emailed and requested and have talked to, they were still 11 in my head. Now I'm seeing kids, and marriages, ivy league credentials, vacations and so much more that I can't describe. These people have lived 13 years without me. They aren't who they were back then.

I missed it. And its my fault really. I didn't say a thing that last day of school. I cried for my best friend, who was brave enough to say she was moving away. Hid my tears from moving hundreds of miles away behind that reason. Instead of telling them what was wrong... These were my friends. I pretty much abandoned them. So I guess I'm sad with regret.

"Yea, it was crazy coming to school the first day of sixth grade. You were the only one I was really looking forward to seeing, and it really hurt not seeing you, anyway lol."

The boy who pinned me to the wall and kissed me when we were 5 said that to me today.

So yeah. Just a lil sad. I wish I could go back and change that day. Get some numbers and addresses. But I was so "tough" back then (another childhood friend's words, not mine) that I kept myself at a length. All I can do now is try to catch up.

I choose my choice!

Does anyone else watch the daily show? You should if you don't. You also owe it to yourself to catch the repeat of Thursday's show when it comes on tonight at 8. Samantha Bee is my hero. Her coverage of the RNC, trying to get people down there to say "choice," was one of the funniest/ most perfect things I've seen in the media today. When John Stewart was talking to Newt Gingrich Wednesday night and he said something to the effect of "palin wants us to respect her choice and elect her VP to take away ours," I thought I had reached my echelon. But oh no.

Ladies and gents, I am so pro choice. Like, hard. I come from a place where there were 2 pregnant girls in my 8th grade class. Where I have friends with babies and abortions. Friends who got married only to be now divorced or on their way. Where I passed out or sold condoms (for $.25) in school before prom because I worked in cvs and was one of few whose mom told me to go to planned parenthood. I've made my good decisions and bad decisions, and I have no room to judge.

You figure a woman who ran away to elope and had a baby 8 months later would tell her daughter not to make the same mistake. You figure SHE of all people would have a more realistic view than "abstinence only." but no. Now she's a grandma. And you CANNOT tell me that she didn't for a second think, "we can just have an abortion and no one will know." I wouldn't think it was a big deal- 17 year olds get pregnant all the time, thanks to lack of education and resources- if it wasn't for all the deafening hypocrisy in the situation. Even hypocrisy is human. Just own up to that shit. Stop trying to paint this situation as something its not. That boy does not want to marry her. He didn't even want kids, lol. Your family and his family got together and decided what was the best way to save face. Some money was even probably exchanged. And it helps that yall are from Alaska. The cost of living is super low, and thanks to oil subsidies, that child gets $300/yr just for being born.

So anyways, I don't want someone who's gonna ask me to respect her child's CHOICE but has no respect for mine. I would choose to have my baby if I got pregnant today (and trust that it would be sooo unplanned). but I'm in a long term, monogamous relationship. Not everyone, including this woman's daughter, can say that. And none of those people have any bearing on MY choice. And so Sarah Plain and Tall (ha! X I see you!) should have no bearing on anyone else's. Don't think you are better than anyone because you had a shotgun wedding. Because you kept your baby and gave him a stupid name.

This is just my interpretation of the situation. I have no beef with Bristol, and honestly I think she's being used as a pawn, and if her moms boring ass wasn't running for VP she'd be telling a different story and her boo would still have that mullet. Anyways, I do have beef with her mom, and the type of people that almost ran my mom down while protesting when she was going to get a pregnancy test, cuz they thought she was trying to abort me. The type of people who put themselves on a pedistal for having more opportunities than others, for passing judgement on situations they themselves have never been in.

in addition to calling that 80's reject onstage, he also stole my shades off my face!!! what? lmao, but you know i got them back. lets not play.

And I'm back!

Quick rundown of the long weekend:

I tired and I lost my voice on Friday. I've been hearing that I sound like a man since then. My voice is so gone I can't sing Toni braxton. Yeah.

There's a pic of me resting on the shelf at work. I was just so tired!

Kesi came by and surprised me at work. It was so sweet of him! Brightened my day.

This guy led me to believe he was Frank Miller, the animator of 300 and Sin City. His name was actually Frank Miller, and so when I asked him if he was THE Frank Miller, he kept going "shh, shh," like "I don't want people to know its me." so then I googled him and he looks nothing like the guy. Nothing. He came back and I was gnna call him out but I was too tired so I just gave him an evil look.

I made lots of tips. But I overdrew my acct.

My friend Hotel Sam (as opposed to Ruby Sam, who works with Kesi) saw Danity Kane from backstage Saturday night. You know I was outdone right? She knows another of my highschool friends, Larry, who of course is cool with Dwoods, and they got back there. Meanwhile I was washing a million dishes. I was so over her! But hanging out with her last night I can see why people love her so much. She's literally crazy.

I got a Barack magnet. He's posed like Rosie the rivetter and it says "yes we can!"

Some costumes were awesome, some were wack to the nth degree. I have pix. You'll see them thurs.

I left work at 230 Saturday night. I spent 1.5 hrs washing dishes. That's how much crap we used. And the other closers left me and Breezy. Wackery.

I touched a drag queen's boob @3am outside a bar. I could tell the difference. But they were very well done.

Green card has trouble with American names. She spelled Robin "raban," Justin "jastan," Stephanie "stapny," Rayne "ran" and the list goes on. It was hilarious calling those drinks. Who? What?

Went to a local hip hop artist showcase last night. It was pretty awesome, but some acts were hurting my heart. I'd definitely check out Yellowwolf and Life the Great cuz I dig them, lol.

My ex supervisor came back to "help" for the busy weekend. She was barely around. Then she complained that this was her weekend off for her new job so she only got one day off. Honestly she was getting paid to do nothing, so she coulda kept her ass home.

My girl Mary Lou and I worked cold bar. Industrial buckets of frapp mix and mocha. I'm talking straight jugs. We slaved man. but we also danced and sang while mixing drinks. At one point a hotel employee tried to break the line and get some free stuff while Mary and I were singing John Legend. We had to tell him to "take it slow, oh oh...." we had the whole room cracking up.

**I'll be back with a real post later today. I haven't seen Kesi since Friday and we need some qt. Also some things need illustration. Holla!**
