housewife

ok sho heres the deal. i prefer to post when im off work. i just worked a 7 day stretch and im finally off, so you got sumn from me yesterday and ssumn today!! yay, arent you excited? im also off friday and im sure life will happen by then.

anyways, i cooked last weekend. the stars aligned and i had a 4day weekend and my mom was out of town. so i had free reign of the kitchen and living room, which is hardly ever the case. i decided to make emeril's spinach and turkey lasagna and i substituted a little- green peppers instead of red, and i couldnt find the exact cheeses. but other than that i followed it to the t and it turned out great!!! i loved it. kesi loved it, my mom and brother and my mom's work friend who she shared with loved it. i will surely make it again.

i think im gonna try to cook once a month. kesi has high bp and high cholesterol (how???) so i had to make a healthy meal for him that tasted good. im thinking of a stew- even though i dont really like most stews, we'll see.

i did look back at the pix i took and my plate was hella messy. i was in a rush to take the picture because my camera. so to further remove myself from adei's critique, i give you these gems.

i have unceremoniously returned from Cross/ Eutawville/ Casey south carolina. my grandfather's funeral was quite an event. i'll be sure to tell you about it and the days surrounding, i just dont feel like doing it now. i just wanted to leave you with some pix...

yeah these are a tad old but i wanted to share. arent they nice? she pretty much sticks to baby blankets but she's bad a--. i wont curse cuz she doesnt like that.

arent those about the most charming girls you ever saw? dont let em hurt you now! lol. i had a really good time and we should definitely do it again. jameil made some chicken sausage jambalaya type stuff (sorry im not good with remembering and thats what it reminded me of) and the infamous raspberry lemonade which adei didnt like much since shes a sweet hater, but i loved it and it tasted great with bacardi. btw thats me, jameil, adei and toni, on rashan's couch. we spent the evening dancing and singing old school songs, and someone would say "i was 8 when that somg came out!" and rashan would say. "i was in college..." ha!

and check ya girl out! i laced them up the other night and decided to take a few pix since my bro is supposed to throw a design on the side. a before and after if you will. also note the bin of yarn behind my right foot. your girl works hard!

a few announcements

firstly, my youngest brother turned 20 saturday. we saw cadillac records, which was great. i admit i had low expectations, but it was a well done movie. anyway here's a pic of us at a party we went to a few weeks ago. its weird that we ahare friends and go to parties together when there was a time i couldnt get rid of his behind. i know im making a weird face but, yeah.

ha! and he signed it! im so excited!!!! he already decided he wants 3. yes!

look what the eff i just found?! i was going into "browse" to take pix off my mem card, and i see a folder marked "joy's modeling pix." he's had my portfolio since i stopped modeling... how sweet that my #1 fan put some up. this one was taken right before jr prom at my old house, in what i called my "deal closer dress." not for any dirty reason, just that every one loves me in it. i still have it (that quirk popping up)...i wore it to my friend's grandma's funeral. when i saw her hubby (the grandma's) a few weeks later he said "it was nice that you came to show your respects. you wpre the green dress, right?" i was so embarassed.

kesi and i had a lil picnic thang at the park today. before we left the house he saw a lizard on my shutters. is it really lizard weather already? i usually dont see them til august. or maybe theyre always there and i dont know it. they live in my shutters cuz there's shade and plenty of bugs. i dont mind cuz theyre cute.



us on the swings. thats alll i really wanted to do for the whole excursion. my whole motivation was the swings. while on them we talked about the games we played with our parents and the games we want to play with our kids. we also talked about how everyone should just be a kid again for a little while and go play on the playground. he tried to do the monkey bars, but they were so small that even on his knees he could reach the bars too easily. then i went down the slide and conducted enough electricity to start the car with...




last but not least, my alin page dress!!!! i just got it yesterday at ross. for 80% off retail! i mean whoa. i had already gotten what i needed (black work pants) and something i wanted (brown short shorts with sky blue dots), and i turn down the aisle and what do i see? the same dress i had taken a picture with out of harper's bazaar on a slow day at work a few weeks ago. remember my "i need" list where i said i needed a yellow sundress? this was why! but then i saw it in purple... and i had a crisis because even though it was so cheap i just could not get two. so i called lauren and she restrained from laughing at me and we decided on purple. no pics of it on me yet; that will have to wait til my grandma's birthday party in july, inless some other event comes up. and ive gotta find some yellow shoes first...

isnt this a cool lil pic? my brother doodled it after kesi's brother sent him a text msg about seahorse sandwiches (all very strange, i know, and i cant explain it). what kills me is that this lil drawing has so much to it! what also kills me is that he got all the art talent from both our parents. i mean, i cant draw worth a ding damn. i can tag though... i did some grafitti on the same paper. not my best work, so i didnt bother to take a picture of it, lol.

kesi and i went to see "semi pro" last week. Good movie. funny. It wasn't at anchorman level, but I enjoy will ferrel in general, lol. That sex scene had me dying though! I really wanna see Horton hears a who but I don't know if he wants to. Meh.

I'm listening to the first DK album right now. Still bumpin! I'm resisting the urge to just belt it out in the streets right now. I mean, this album, there's maybe only 1 song I don't like and its near the end, so it doesn't stop my flow at all. *oh, oh oh, we show stoppin, show, show stopin!* I can't wait til Tuesday! I'm going to get the album 2nd thing (after my bathingsuit, which my baby is buying for me). Its called "welcome to the dollhouse." has anyone else seen that movie? Its so funny! Ms lady and our brothers must have watched it a thousand times! "wiener dog!!" lmao. Please, if you haven't seen it, watch it. Its gotta be one of the best indie movies I've seen. I ended up with this weird crush on Brendan Sexton because of that movie and one where he played a lil thug who liked this puerto rican girl whose dad was abusive. Hurricane streets! Oh my God that one was even better than WTTD. And he was in empire records. With liv Tyler and Rene zelwiger. Marvel at my encyclopedic knowledge of 90s movies featuring awesome actors, not just "movie stars."

This dude just asked me if I knew anyone who wanted to buy a psp for $50. Boy, if you don't get out my face! That reminds me of this lady Friday, who came in the store and tried to pay with a 50... Turns out it was fake. Turns out, she sold her second tix cuz her team lost, and the random Joe on the street paid with a fake bill. She felt like pure ish. I mean, it didn't even have a watermark. It was a good fake, I will say that. If we didn't have the markers, we probably would have accepted it.

So yeah, tornado. Hit atl. Did you hear? I took pix, and I think as soon as I get a chance I'm gonna do a big photo catch up session (the pic my brother drew was in my drafts). I had to go to the highest floor of my hotel to take pix of the CNN center and the westin, which you can't even get close to. As far as Marta I'm pretty sure they're not letting people off at the CNN ctr station... Its all very crazy. I uttered about it so I'm not gonna repeat myself, but I will say that even during the storm I underestimated what exactly was going on outside my job. But everyone I know is ok. There were a few close calls, including a friend who I'm sure has to move and one whose back windows blew out from the pressure while she was driving home.

Last but not least, guess who I met yesterday? Andrew young!!! He's so sweet! And a joker. I told him I loved seeing him on the colbert report, and he says, "yall didn't know I could sing, did you?" lol I was trying to get deep with him, about the whole strike thing, and how he and mlk negotiated with colbert's dad to end the nurse's strike in SC. And his wife (who is bangin in that Claire huxtable way) said SHE didn't even know that story before he told it on tv. And despite all the bull and drama, this is why I love my job. Who among us can say they met and had a silly convo with the man who has a street not 2 blocks from my job named after him?

2 of my friends. the chick, i havent seen her since graduation, except for her best friend's funeral almost a year ago. i almost cried that she and another one of my friends came... i dont know how we lost touch but we wont again. once again i cant hate on my boy wearing the shades... once i really got to drinking, i put mine on too.

from left to right, thats grand mariner (2), a lemon drop, and a pom margarita. i got the glow face, which is what happens when i drink (check the above link for proof of that). that, and i lose control of my facial expressions. but other than that, and my lack of ability to pronounciate, i felt great! the cherry stem i tied is behind the lemon wedge. shoulda took a pic of that.

yall. that food was soooooooo bangin! of course there was more on the platter, but i got halfway through before i was able to think straight enough to take pix. i want to go back!!! can you see the spicy goodness on the shrimps??? ugh! heaven. and they blanched and buttered the brocolli, which is how i like it. there's no need to cook most veggies. that just takes away flavor.

and indeed, i did take pix of me in my new express clothes.

this is the shirt and skirt, which i usually would not wear together because its too bland a combo for me. when i do wear them i'd pair the top with a grey or black bottoms, and the skirt? something rich, like a jeweltoned. or patterned. also i zoomed in on the pic bacause i was doing laundry, i wasnt wearing shoes, and i didnt have on lipgloss. it was a rush job, lol.

last but not least, lauren's valentine. for those that dont know, lauren is my valentine. this year i was gonna buy her a shirt that said "free la, bitches," but they wanted an arm and a leg for it. and a finger from the other arm's hand. and i said, "for that much, i can make it myself!" and thats what i did!!! im pretty crafty, you know? i took pics of it but my phone ate them when i was trying to email them to myself, so i only have one. and i think it says everything.
